For superb cocktails at the end of the day, COTE LOUNGE is a great place to come. Its’ position in the centre of Nice on one of the main pedestrian streets means it is a perfect place to come and watch the world go round with a cool drink in hand.

2. LE BAR DU NEGRESCO, Promenade des Anglais

For an important celebration we sometimes splash out and go to the bar of the famous Negresco Hotel. All the pomp and ceremony of the hotel adds to the occasion, such as the uniformed doorman that greet you on arrival. Thoroughly recommended is the signatory Royal Negresco cocktail – a delicious melange of champagne, kirsch and raspberry juice.

3.  MOON BAR AT THE ASTON LA SCALA HOTEL, 12 Avenue Félix Faure

Open from June to September this cool roof terrace bar is a real find. Sip a fruity cocktail or a glass of local Rose wine and enjoy the incredible 360-degree views over Nice. Unfortunately, only guest staying in the hotel can use the pool but the view is open to all !

4. WAYNE’S BAR, 15 Rue de la Préfecture

For our English guests, if you are missing the local pub from back home, we suggest you pop in to Wayne’s Bar for a pint. It’s noisy, fun and you are guaranteed an excellent night. In fact, it’s just like being at your local! There is live music and DFs performing every evening and unlike pubs back home, it’s open until 2am.

For beer lovers head to Les Distilleries Ideales, where you can sample a huge selection of beers and local wines. It is set over two floors, with a little balcony, and if you can secure a table here you can watch the world go by in local style. 6. LA CAVE ROMAGNAN, 22 Rue d'Angleterre

This is a little gem of wine bar which is very popular with locals. It authentic, no frills kind of establishment with fantastic live jazz on a Saturday evening.

7. EL MERKARDO COCKTAIL BAR, 12 Rue de Saint-Francois de Paule

Another great address for cocktails after a day exploring the French Riviera, or a day at the beach. Alternatively pop in for a pre-dinner cocktail. You’ll be amazed by the choice of cocktails on offer such as a Basilic Smash (Beefeater gin, hibiscus syrup, lime juice, fresh basil, soda) or mocktails such as Gorillas in the Mist, with coconut water, kiwi and banana juice.

If you are seeking out the cool set head to this bar for a gentle glass of wine listening to tunes. The bar is off the beaten tourist track and has a very authentic feel to it. We love it. It’s so cool it doesn’t have a website.

For Margaritas and Mezcal Mules come to this Mexican bar and restaurant, the premises of which are tiny but spill on to a great wide terrace in the Old Town. It’s a fun place to start the night, with great sharing platters and authentic Mexican food to sop up the tequilla!

10. AU FUR ET A MESURE, 2 rue Jules Gilly

This novel bar offers something very different. Punters are invited to take a glass and serve themselves at beer ‘stations’ set up on the tables. There are also tablets where you can order cocktails from a choice of more than 45.
